Granite

Our Granites

Granite has been around since the formation of the earth. It is 100% natural and next to diamonds, is one of the hardest stones. It is also the hardest natural material available for countertops. Composed of a variety of minerals including quartz, feldspar, and mica, Granite comes in many different colors, and these different colors reflect various combinations of minerals.

Being the most popular stone among homeowners, it is quarried in the form of huge blocks, some weighing up to 35 tons. Then these blocks are cut into slabs, generally 3/4" or 1-1/4" thick and the faces are polished to the specified finish. The slabs are then carefully shipped to us, who then process them into the final product. Sudbury Granite currently has 120 colors on stock that are sheltered all year round for you to select from.

Scratch Resistance

Due to its natural makeup, it is very difficult to scratch granite. With 10 being the equivalent hardness of diamonds; granite holds a ranking of 7-8. Since granite is next to diamonds in hardness, it takes another piece of unpolished granite or a diamond to scratch the surface.

Natural stone can be used as:

  • Countertops,
  • Bathtub deck,
  • Vanities,
  • Desk or table top,
  • Buffet top,
  • Fireplace surround & hearth,
  • Anything might be possible, just ask.

Granite is a wonderful addition to any home or business!
