Searching Material

Solid surfaces are a grand investment, and at Sudbury Granite we want to ensure you make an informed decision about the material you select. Therefore, we recommend that when selecting your slab, you check for the following facts.

Veins

Dry Veins - They are natural formations that appear as cracks. These visible veins are formed during the solidification process.  Earthquakes or land movement can also cause dry veins. They are random and will vary from one type of stone to the next. Dry veins may look and feel like cracks but they in no way compromise the stability or soundness of the stone.

Surface Pits - Due to the polishing methods currently used by most suppliers for finishing slabs overseas,(abrasive and pressure in a circular motion) some small crystals will be removed leaving small voids in the surface polish. The size and frequency of this varies from stone to stone.

T
hickness - The standard 1 1/4” or 3/4” thickness is not an exact measurement
but rather an industry term similar to the terminology used to describe a 2X4
piece of wood. There may be a variation in the thickness of your stone and many slabs have variations with them.
