General Information
Cuts & Sizes
We sell custom fabricated slab products such as countertops, vanities, and tabletops, etc. Granite tile is typically sold in 12 x 12 x 3/8 inch size but can be ordered up to 24 x 24 x 3/4 inch sizes in tile. Many can be precut for an inlay set and includes a 2.25 x 2.25 inch inlay for each tile corner.
Installation
Granite tile is typically installed using a layer of "thin set epoxy" to bond the stone to a wood or concrete backing or structure. A slip sheet is often used between the primary structure and the granite stone to allow for a degree of torsional relief desired due to dissimilar expansion and contraction properties between the stone and the supporting structure.
When installing tile for countertops and similar applications it is recommended that the tile be spaced using a 1/32 or 1/16 inch spacer between each tile and filled with a matching epoxy grout for maximum stain resistance. Once installed, the stone should be sealed using a suitable "high gloss stone penetrant" sealer to provide added highlight and vibrancies to the granite material as well as provide additional protection from stain or discoloration.
